“My mission in life is not to merely survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor and some style.”
– Maya Angelou
Portfolio managers need the freedom to go where they find value. So do people. I entered college studying engineering, switched to business with a marketing focus, and settled on the midpoint between the two—finance. I began my career in roles focused on data, reporting, and risk management. When I was offered a role with Thornburg, moving from my native Colorado to a small investment firm in Santa Fe didn’t feel like a risk. I was drawn to the people and work that blended creativity with facts and data. The freedom to learn, stretch and build is why I stayed. I’m excited to reunite with colleagues I respect and admire to build out private investments at City Different Investments.
